2019 Vincent C. Spina Memorial Youth Championship Information

NOVEMBER 11, 2018

Southeast PA USBC is proud to announce our 2019 Vincent C. Spina Memorial Youth Championship. V&S Elmwood Lanes is hosting this season’s youth championship. V&S Elmwood Lanes is about 10 minutes from the Philadelphia International Airport. The Singles & Doubles events are January 5th & 6th. The Team Event is January 12th & 13th. The squad times for both weekends are 9:00 AM & 1:00 PM for both Saturday and Sunday. The lanes will have fresh oil for each squad to ensure a fair condition for all participants. The oil pattern for the tournament is USBC White #2.

We are committed to providing as many opportunities for youth bowlers to win scholarship money for college at our tournaments, and our youth championship will be no different. The scholarship prize ratio for the tournament will be one scholarship for every four entries which will be funded by the entry fees. There are also special scratch prizes for the championship. For Teams, the special scratch prizes are $600 for all-male teams, $600 for all-female teams, and $600 for mixed teams. For Doubles, the special scratch prizes are $300 for all-male pairs, $300 for all-female pairs, and $300 for mixed pairs. For All Events, the special scratch prizes are $150 for males and $150 for females. There is also a guaranteed $1,000 added to the handicap prize funds. Southeast PA USBC funds the special scratch prizes and additional handicap prizes. There are two different handicap divisions for Team, Doubles, Singles, and All Events. We calculate the handicaps based on 100% of 210 for Singles and All Events, 100% of 420 for Doubles and 100% of 840 for the Team event. Youth bowlers who do not have a certified average as of 12/31/2018 will bowl with a scratch score of 210.

The cost of the tournament will be $100 per team and $100 for Singles & Doubles (one pair of bowlers). That is $25 per bowler per event. There are no additional entry fees for the special scratch prizes or the handicap All Events prizes. The total cost for four youth bowlers who participate in everything is $300.00. (4 bowlers) Expense fees are $2.75 per bowler per entry. Lineage for the tournament will be a low $2.75 per game. We strive to run our championship events with the least amount of expense fees and lineage as possible.

We are working with Donald Armstead to host a Junior Gold qualifier in conjunction with the Youth Championship tournament. The cost for the Junior Gold qualified is $40 for the U20/U17 division, $30 for the U15 division, and $20 for the U12 division. The qualifier ratio is one Junior Gold bowler qualified for every five bowlers. There is no expense fees or lineage for the qualifier because to enter it; you must bowl in the Vincent C. Spina Memorial Youth Championship. The qualifier is for the nine games bowled over both weekends. We will accept walk-ins for the qualifier and the youth championship tournament. Junior Gold memberships are available for purchase on site for those who do not currently have paid for the Junior Gold membership upgrade when they purchased their standard membership.
