Southeast PA USBC is pleased to announce the 2018 Vincent C. Spina Memorial Youth Championship. This year’s tournament will be held at two locations. The Singles & Doubles events will be held January 20th & 21st at Thunderbird Lanes – Castor Avenue in Philadelphia. The Team event will be held on February 24th & 25th at Pike Lanes in Southampton.
The Singles & Doubles Events were this past weekend at Thunderbird Lanes – Castor Avenue and everything went really well. We want to thank all the parents, youth bowlers, coaches, and volunteers who helped make the Singles & Doubles are largest in the last 5 years.

There is still time to register for the Team Event taking place February 24th & 25th at Pike Lanes in Southampton, PA. As always, we are committed to providing as many opportunities for youth bowlers like you to win scholarship money for college at our tournaments. Our youth championship is no different. The scholarship prize ratio for the tournament will be one scholarship for every four entries which will be funded by the entry fees. There will also be special virtual side tournament with a guaranteed prize fund of $4,000 especially for youth bowlers who are members of a Southeast PA USBC processed youth program. To find out if you qualify for the special side youth, ask your league coordinators if your youth program is processed by Southeast PA USBC. Both the youth championship and the virtual side tournament will be handicapped so everyone will have a chance at winning scholarship money. The youth championship regular tournament is funded by the entry fees while the virtual side tournament is entirely funded by Southeast PA USBC.
The squads for Singles & Doubles was 1:00 PM & 4:30 PM for Saturday and 11:00 AM & 2:30 PM for Sunday at Thunderbird Lanes – Castor Avenue in January 2018. For the Team Event, the squad times are 12:00 PM and 3:00 PM for both Saturday and Sunday at Pike Lanes in February 2018. The lanes will have fresh oil for each squad to ensure a fair condition for all participants. There are two divisions in each event for both the championship tournament and side tournament. They are 150 and below for Singles and All Events, 151 and above for Singles & All Events, 300 and below and 301 and above for Doubles. Finally, there will be a 600 and below and 601 and above for the Team event. All Events is only part of the virtual side tournament. The handicaps will be based on 100% of 210 for Singles and All Events, 100% of 420 for Doubles and 100% of 840 for the Team event. Youth bowlers who do not have a certified average as of 12/31/2017 will bowl with a scratch score of 210.
The cost of the tournament will be $100 per team and $100 for Singles & Doubles (one pair of bowlers). That is $25 per bowler per event. Because the Singles & Doubles Events have past, the cost of the team event is only $25 per bowler (team of four bowlers). There are no entry fees virtual side tournament for youth bowlers who are members of a Southeast PA USBC processed youth program. The prize fund for the virtual side tournament is fully guaranteed by Southeast PA USBC. The breakdown of the guaranteed prize fund is on page two of the entry form at the end of the rules. Expense fees are $2 per bowler per entry. Lineage for the tournament will be a low $3.00 per game. We at Southeast PA USBC strive to run our tournaments with the least amount of expense fees possible. There was also be 50/50s and bowling ball raffles at each squad this past weekend and there will be 50/50s and bowling ball raffles at the February Team Event as well. The bowling balls were sponsored by Thunderbird Lanes – Castor and the Pro Shop at Thunderbird Lanes – Holme for the Singles & Doubles Events. The bowling balls in the upcoming Team Event are sponsored by Pike Lanes and their Pro Shop. The raffle proceeds help offset the costs of running the tournaments, so we do not have to charge an excessive amount of administrative expense fees and dedicate most of the entry fees towards the prize fund.
