2018 Southeast PA USBC Women’s Championship

Southeast PA USBC is pleased to announce the 2018 Southeast PA USBC Women’s Championship. This year’s tournament will be held at Wynnewood Lanes in Ardmore, PA. (just outside the Overbrook section of Philadelphia) The tournament this season will again have $1,000 added by the Southeast PA USBC Board of Directors to enhance the prizes that the bowlers are trying to win. The breakdown of the prize guarantee is as follows:

$500 Added to the Team Prize Fund
$250 Added to the Doubles Prize Fund
$125 Added to the Singles Prize Fund
$125 Added to the All Events Prize Fund

The prize ratio for the Team, Doubles & Singles events is 1 place paid for every 4 entries. The prize ratio for the All Events (optional) event is 1 place paid for every 6 entries.

The Women’s Championship for the Greater Philadelphia region will be held on March 17th & 18th. The Team squad times are March 17th @ 11:00 AM and March 18th @ 2:30 PM. The Singles & Doubles squad times are March 17th @ 2:30 PM and March 18th @ 11:00 AM. We will be have $5 brackets available for bowlers to participate in and bowling ball raffles each squad and 50/50s each squad.

To keep the tournament fair for all competitors, we will be re-oiling each squad for the tournament to ensure a fresh oil pattern. We will be using a recreational house shot that is not the ‘house’ shot at Wynnewood Lanes so there will not be a home field advantage. The handicap will be based on 100% of 210 for the tournament based on the series bowled. All Events will have a handicap based on 100% of 210 for the nine games bowled.

New this year, after feedback received from Adult tournament participants last season, we will be enforcing the 10-pin rule. (USBC Rule 319(a)2) Based on the success and popularity of the Southeast PA USBC Challenge Coin Discount & Side Pots, Women who are Challenge Coin holders (300 games / 700 series / 800 series bowled in Southeast PA USBC) will receive a $5 discount per entry per event for their first entry ($20 potential discount total) and the High Scratch All Events bowler and High Scratch Game bowlers will each earn $200.

Based on additional feedback, we have reduced the cost to bowl in the tournament!! The cost of the tournament will be $120 per team and $120 for Singles & Doubles (one pair of bowlers). All Events’ cost to enter is $10 per bowler and is optional. The new total cost for the tournament this season is $100 per bowler if the bowler is participating in all four events. We at Southeast PA USBC strive to run our tournaments with the least amount of expense fees possible. The Women’s Championship is no different. There will also be 50/50s and bowling ball raffles at each squad at the tournament sponsored by Wynnewood Lanes. The raffle proceeds help offset the costs of running the tournaments, so we do not have to charge an excessive amount of administrative expense fees and dedicate most of the entry fees towards the prize fund.
